30 Words - Hope

Hope is the thing with feathers ~

I see it, fluttering
far above me.

In the
cold, dark, dreich
half-light
of the Winter,
one
little
bird
flies above,

fragile yet ~
indefatigable.

The premise of 30 Words Thursdays is simple...
Take an image (preferably one you shot, or have permission to use).
Write 30 Words about it. No more. No less.
Post it each Thursday.
Add your link to the InLinkz on Erin's 30 Words Thursday post.
(InLinkz code will be open for one week.)
Enjoy seeing what others have captured by visiting them and leaving a comment.

OK, so it's not Thursday, and I didn't take the picture. I found it online (here). But I'm joining in nonetheless. I hope you find a little winged hope here in the cold and dark winter that we are having (colder for some than others, I know!).

New copper items in Curious

Happy Monday! I hope today find's you ready for the week ahead. Phew - we made it through January!

I'm stopping by to let you know that I've added a few new items to The Curious Bead Shop - some lovely hand-antiqued and sealed copper wire in four different gauges.

There are 0.5mm, 0.6mm, 0.8mm and 1mm. These are roughly equivalent to 24g, 22g, 20g and 18g, in the AWG system - you can check out the exact comparisons here

I also added these sweet little Edison clasps - so called, because they reminded me and Helen of a light bulb! They are really cute, and great when you're looking for something special and handmade, but something simpler that one of my Deco Rose clasps

That's all for today folks! Have a great Monday!

Jewellery sale extended!

I never can quite get the hang of scheduling etsy's coupon codes, and I accidentally scheduled my sale to finish on Monday, rather than today. Rather than cancel the sale, I decided to simply extend it by an extra day - woohoo! And I've added a whole ton of new jewellery to the shop today, some of which has disappeared already. However, there is still plenty of lovely jewellery available for your perusal.

Check out some of my new pieces ~

Hop over to Songbead before the coupon code really does expire!

More New Jewellery!

Bird's Nest 2

Pinch, punch, first of the month! Here's a mini-tute to start your February. See this post for instructions on making the bird's nest in the first place. The beads I've used are from over at Curious, Large Robin's Eggs.

(I've got more of these lovely speckled rounds in different colours - just search for 'eggs' and they will appear!)

Here is how to attach a nest into a bracelet ~

 1. Here's my bracelet, laid out and ready for stringing. I don't always do this, but with nests, I do.

 2. String all the beads before the nest as you usually would, and then slide the bead wire through the base of your nest. This of course depends on how tightly you have wound the wire on the back of the nest. Tight enough to be secure, but loose enough so that the wire can pass relatively easily through. You might need to add a couple of extra spacers on each side, but that's something you can play around with.

3. And here you go, on my wrist! The nest sits nicely between the other beads and against my wrist, as you can see.
