Bead Soup Blog Party VI Reveal

Welcome to the Bead Soup Blog Party VI, 3rd Reveal....yup, it's all got a wee bit complicated by now! The wonderful, awesome and impeccable Lori Anderson has gathered us all together, fearlessly rounding up an horrendous number of beaders into three reveals over the past few weeks. I thrilled to be a part of it, yet again.

My partner is Jacqueline - a Swiss lampwork artist. Her business is CreARTelier. When I found out I was partnered up with someone of such talent I felt a little over-awed (not for the first time - remember Sabrina and Patsy?) but I (hopefully!) rose to the challenge and relished the opportunity to work with some absolutely amazing beads....

Jacqueline sent me 2 focals, some beautiful gemstone and lampwork spacers and filler 'soup' beads and a bag of silver toned components, including a lovely toggle.  I hope you can see the simply astonishing work that has gone into both of these focals. The mind simply boggles at the imagination, dedication and sheer bloody talent that goes into composing such pieces. I've shown your the organic focal from both sides - even the back is incredible!

And so, without further ado, here's my creations....

I kept it simple with these bold focals. I know that you could probably make very cool, very decorative pieces with them but for me, it was all about chain and simplicity. Bold shapes and strong colours, in the heart piece at least. Over sized pearls and lemon faceted Czech glass in the bracelet, echoing those sweet flowers on the front of the focal. And a lot of Fallen Angel Brass in both. I love working with their findings!

I'm now off to check out what Jacqueline created....

Both pieces are gorgeous. On the bracelet I love the repetition of the white and yellow flowers from the focal in the two sets of charms. The mix of metals in the necklace is bold and holds its own with the blood red and black colorway.

Amazing focals...there is so much preparation that goes in to putting the first one together..those little flowers are a lot of work. I love how you added the pearls..they lift the piece and stop it from being too dark..the dark chain a great juxtaposition. Love everything about the necklace, such a strong statement piece, the simplicity perfect for the strong focal.

Love the different twists and turns on the red necklace. The use of color and textures. The bracelet is sweet with that gorgeous bead.

Hi Rebecca,
I love both your bracelet and necklace and I have to agree simple is best to show of the beauty of the focal pieces. I love the dark chain it really brings out the colors of the focals and the accenting beads.

Rebecca, I think you made the right choice completely, I don't think they are simple I just think you pulled the right elements to make the focal's shine. As always I love what you do!

Simplicity is absolutely the way to go to highlight these brilliant focals, Rebecca. Some beads need more support than others, but each of these has a bold distinctive voice, and your choices to accompany them are just right.

Those focals are to die & you more then did them justice. I swear that sometimes simple is the hardest to do as you balance everything.

I'd say you rose to the challenge quite well. Everything you made compliments the beautiful beads. Very nicely done.

I absolutely love what you did with these - just the right amount of accent and you choose your beads in everything you do impeccably!

Thank you so much not just for participating, but for your soup in the Bead Soup book!

Those are gorgeous focals and you have used them well. It needs a lot of restraint for me to not "over-design" something so that the focal shines through. I LOVE the red heart necklace!

I really like what you did on both pieces and much like you I really do like chain!!! The focal's remained the focal of each piece and all the other components took their proper place as the supporting cast. Nicely done!

You did go simple with these, but they are still so very your style. I like that about them. Those are definitely some gorgeous glass pieces she sent you and you really allowed them to shine! As always, you've created some amazingly beautiful pieces. :)

Janeen said...

I love what you've done with both of these pieces. I really don't know if I'd call either one of them simple. They might be "simple" on the surface, but there is such attention to the smallest details on both pieces. I can see you put a lot of thought into each one. Love them both. Might need to look more into FA Brass. Great stuff!

Leah Curtis said...

Wow, that heart focal is amazing. Spooky and beautiful. Love how you mirrored the colours along the chain!
